The historical town of Mossel Bay will again be hosting the popular Dias & Port Festival from 31 January – 3 February 2019 at the Santos festival arena, Santos Beach.

The festival arena at the De Bakke Santos Resort will have the regular and new activities on offer, such as an exciting Cultural Evening as opening event and a weekend of fun and entertainment for the whole family. There will also be a variety of stalls, fun rides and a kids play and entertainment area as well as a buffet of local and top South African artists on stage all weekend long.

Some of the official Dias & Port Festival 2019 highlights include:

  • Top South African artists and local talent on stage
  • Arrival of Dias and International Flag Ceremony
  • Flag jumps at Santos Beach
  • International and Indigenous folk dancing
  • 30th Anniversary celebration of the Bartolomeu Dias Museum and museum tours
  • Street parade with colourful floats and costumes
  • Two Classical Music Evenings at the Bartolomeu Dias Museum
  • Kids entertainment, including a play area and Tjiff and Tjaff live on stage!

Festivalgoers can look forward to top South African artists on stage from 1-3 February, including the likes of the 2018 South African Idols Winner Yanga, Snotkop, The Rockets, Refentse, Paxton, ADAM, Brendan Peyper, Riana Nel, Loyiso Bala, the ever-popular Emo Adams, and many more.

The officially opening of the Dias & Port Festival 2018 will be on Thursday 31, January. A Cultural Evening and Concert will be staged in the Town Hall where the Premier of the Western Cape, Ms Helen Zille, will deliver the Keynote Address.

On Friday 1, February 2019 local bands and artists will be performing on stage from 16:30 till late. There will also be a Langeberg Mall programme that will include various dance and music acts and a Classical Evening in the perfect setting of the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex.

On Saturday, 2 February a full programme awaits: The annual Western Cape Lifesaving Tournament will be held at Santos Beach; Be sure to be part of the fun and exciting Street Parade; Flag jumps; The Bartolomeu Dias Museum will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with a special programme starting at 12:00. Due to popular demand, a second Classical Evening will be held at the Museum.

On Sunday 3, February there will be a Tjiff and Tjaff show for kids at 10:00, various artists on stage including the well-known Loyiso Bala, and a brass band festival from 13:00 - 16:00.  

A variety of more than 130 stalls will be trading daily during the festival weekend.

Various nationalities will also be participating in the Dias & Port Festival 2019, including India, Portugal, France, Germany, Madagascar and Indonesia. The regret that the Chinese performers will not be participating in this year’s festival.
